Leaving a legacy of caring for those most in need in your will or estate plan will make a life-saving difference in the lives of poor families in Bangladesh who have a chance to become self-sufficient - a beautiful way to be remembered. PSDI’s Light of Hope Society was established to promote and recognize donors who chose to include a gift to PSDI in their will or estate plan.
By preparing an estate plan, you’re safeguarding more than just matters of finances and inheritance, you’re also guiding future health decisions, providing for loved ones, and creating your legacy. A few simple steps today will give you peace of mind tomorrow by ensuring you and your loved ones are well protected.
Planned gifts can come in a variety of forms, all with different requirements and advantages depending on your circumstances. We advise you to discuss your goals and wishes with your family, financial planner, banker, or attorney. Common ways to give include:
Bequests are the most popular and fairly simple way to make a planned gift. These are outright charitable gifts identified in a legal will. They are usually noted in the will as a specific amount, a remainder of a donors’ estate after other bequests have been paid, or a percentage of the donor’s total wealth.
Charitable gift annuities and charitable remainder trusts allow a donor to give a large amount of cash or securities in exchange for a fixed income payment for life. The nonprofit keeps any remaining funds as well as any income generated from investing those funds. Both have significant tax advantages for the donor.
Other forms of giving include non-cash assets, such as stock or real estate, giving from IRA’s (also known as Qualified Charitable Distributions or QCDs), and designating PSDI as the beneficiary on your life insurance policies or retirement plans.
If you have PSDI in your estate plans already - thank you - and we ask that you let us know by completing our Legacy Gift Intent Form or contacting the office at 314/993-5599 or at info@psdintl.org.
